The Summertown Lady Eagles wrapped up their volleyball season Thursday with a fourth-place finish in the TSSAA Class A State Tournament. Summertown defeated Halls in the morning before falling to CSLA in a competitive four-set match that evening at Rockvale High School.

The Lady Eagles began the day with a commanding performance against Halls, earning a 3–0 sweep by scores of 25–7, 25–6 and 25–16. Summertown took control early, allowing just 13 combined points through the first two sets. The Lady Eagles finished the job in the third to keep their tournament run going and earn a spot in the third-place match.

That evening, Summertown faced CSLA with third place on the line. After dropping the opening set 25–13, the Lady Eagles played a much closer second set but fell 25–23. Facing a two-set deficit, Summertown responded with a hard-fought 27–25 victory in the third to extend the match.

The fourth set brought another close finish. Summertown pushed CSLA beyond the usual 25-point mark again, but CSLA secured a 26–24 win to take the match 3–1. The result ended the Lady Eagles’ tournament run with a fourth-place finish among Tennessee’s Class A teams.

The finish capped a memorable first season for head coach Madison Dinwiddie. The Lady Eagles captured the region championship, swept Harpeth in the sectional round and earned the program’s third consecutive state tournament appearance and 23rd overall.

While Thursday’s final match did not end the way Summertown had hoped, the Lady Eagles battled through two tight closing sets and made CSLA earn the win. Their response after falling behind reflected the determination that carried them through the postseason.
