Summertown’s volleyball team won the region championship at Huntingdon High School, outlasting the host team in five sets before sweeping county rival Loretto in the final.

The Lady Eagles opened the semifinal against Huntingdon with wins of 25-21 and 25-20. Huntingdon answered by taking the next two sets, 25-19 and 25-20, to force a fifth. Summertown regrouped and won the deciding set 15-8 to earn a spot in the championship match.

Waiting in the final was Loretto. The Lady Eagles took the first two sets by identical 25-21 scores, then closed out the match with a 25-18 win in the third to claim the region title.

Summertown was well represented in the tournament honors. Zoei Bonner, Izzy Garland, Lena Brown, and Madi Gilliam were named to the All-Region Team, while El-Lee Lu Mason earned Region Tournament MVP.

The Lady Eagles will return home to host their Sub-State match on Thursday, October 15, with a trip to the state tournament on the line. Their opponent is to be announced.
