Summertown’s girls golf team brought home its seventh state championship since 2018 on October 6, finishing two strokes ahead of Greeneville and Springfield at Sevierville Golf Club. The Lady Eagles shot a combined 302 over the two-day Class A tournament, with all three golfers finishing in the top 10. The win adds to the program’s six consecutive titles from 2018 through 2023.

Halle Busby led Summertown in Monday’s opening round with a 74. Paislie Campbell shot a 76, and Hadlie Campbell finished with a 77. Busby and Paislie Campbell’s scores gave Summertown a team total of 150 and a two-stroke lead over Springfield heading into Tuesday.

Hadlie Campbell turned in Summertown’s best round Tuesday, shooting a 74 to improve three strokes from her opening round. The senior finished sixth overall with a 151. Paislie Campbell followed her first-day 76 with a 78, putting the freshman in a tie for seventh at 154. Busby, a sophomore, finished with an 81 Tuesday and tied for ninth at 155.

The title remained up for grabs during the final round. Greeneville briefly took the lead after a pair of birdies, but Summertown finished ahead. Hadlie and Paislie Campbell’s combined 152 on Tuesday was enough to secure the win, leaving both Greeneville and Springfield at 304.

With different players leading the team each day, it took contributions from all three to bring the championship back to Summertown.
